Happy Monday, Overcomers! Today is a great day!
This past week, I had an experience that overwhelmed me (in a good way.) My Pastor has been talking to us non-stop about the love and consistency of God.
I was listening to the devotional again on the way home and I couldn’t get a nagging thought out of my head. And I asked God, “What about the scripture that says ‘you will not strive with man always?'”
Side note – growing up, I heard this a lot, along with the saying that “you will be cut off.” I didn’t realize that I felt and interpreted that to mean there was an end to the love of God. I took those statements to mean that there’s a point where He says, “Alright, I’m done. I’m out.”
This wrong interpretation of the scripture was blocking my mind and heart from receiving a deeper revelation of the love of God.
God whispered to my spirit: “Beloved, that is not what that meant. Go read it in it’s context.”
So, I’m sitting in my car, and I’m looking at the scripture that means NOTHING like that. Say what?! In that moment, I stepped into the presence and very essence of God’s love for me.
Here’s the thing: His love is so wide, so high, and so deep that we will never understand its depth. There’s no end to His love. He NEVER walks away from us. He’s always patient, longsuffering, and waiting for us to make a choice for him.
I’ll be honest and say that this is hard to process with my mind, but in my heart I know it to be truth.
I’m asking for you to meditate on that. Think about this as you go through your day and this week. I’m asking you to open your heart up to the possibility of receiving this love.
His love is strong enough to destroy depression. His love is strong enough to destroy anxiety. His love is strong enough to destroy shame, condemnation and sadness.
I am not saying you won’t have a bad day, or have issues, but God’s love will sustain you and keep you.
Thought/prayer for today:
“When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.”
