Finding Your Way Back

Happy Tuesday! Thank you for coming back! Today I want to talk a little more about some of the tools I used in finding my way back.

When I was at my lowest, negative talk was my mantra. I lost friends. I was horrible to be around. I tried to “snap out of it,” but I couldn’t seem to get myself together. I went to counseling and therapy for years. I also took the medicine they gave me. I felt guilty for it, but I did it. It took me some time, but I began to get stronger. I began to marry what I learned in therapy with what I knew and was learning about God.

One of the things that I did was begin to figure out the things I enjoyed – outside of the house. Watching TV or reading is not going to help. I knew I always wanted to travel, so I began to take day trips. If money was tight, I would go to the park or find something interesting to do especially if it was free. Being the avid reader that I am, I would take my book (kindle) to the park. The bottom line is this: Get Out of the House! (You’ll feel better)

Some other tools that could help you feel better are:

  • Listen to “happy” music
  • Watch a comedy
  • Call someone who you know is funny
  • Find a way to help someone else
  • Positive Affirmations
  • Find out who God says you are (Google is a good tool. Just type in “what God says about me” to find a list of scriptures)

My thought for today:

God is a loving God. He wants you to have joy, peace, and a full life. I understand life is hard, but as hard as life is, the kindness of God outweighs it a million to one. The bible says that God has plans for you of a hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). Let’s see what He’s got for us. You know it’s gonna be guuuud (smile).
